Abstract

The hypothesis of the article is that there is a special commercial exchange rate of the rupee to the dollar. The author proves that India and Russia trade using this exchange rate contrary to the official exchange rate of the Reserve Bank of India. The article concludes that the commercial exchange rate of the rupee is the basic mechanism for its internationalization and indirect support and protection of Indian manufacturers against external rivalry
